Hobbies
A Hobby a day keeps doldrum away
A 'Hobby' word originated from the 16th century 'Hobyn' meaning a small horse or pony because people have their common recreational activity of that era. But as far as the modern definition goes, Hobby is an activity that you do regularly in your free time.
Today, Hobbies plays a vital role in an individual's life from being professionals to becoming a great human being.
We often see when it comes to appearing before any interview, many candidates have been confused to complete the hobby section in their curriculum vitae (CV), because of the two reasons either they have no particular hobbies or they are only interested in a particular topic so as not to call it their hobby.
How Hobbies are different from Interests?
As I have cleared that a hobby is an activity that you do regularly in your free time.Whereas Interests are something that you like to do, but you are not doing it regularly. For example, You like to travel and explore new places, but you could not do it to get away from boredom due to some reasons, so, you can't call it as your hobby. On the other hand If you like to do some artistic activities like painting, Sketching or Calligraphy and you are doing it during your leisure time, then you can call it as your hobby.
How to find hobbies?
There are numerous ways to find hobbies
Go back to your childhood days
Think about your childhood and the activities you do and get ideas for building your hobbies. Most 18th- and 19th-century children play various games of their choice after school or at leisure. Playing (any game), writing or telling stories can be their hobby. These days, as technology evolves, children are more likely to use smartphone, laptop etc. and engage in social media such as Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and so on, they can develop their hobbies accordingly.
Try a few ideas which make you feel happy.
If you're not thinking about taking a hobby just to occupy your time off. Try to think of something that makes you forget your day's stress and worries. Think of something you enjoy doing that can be reading a book (of your choice), writing, drawing, etc. By doing these activities, you should feel relaxed and forget about everything.
Take a look at past hobbies that you forget
See What you want to change about yourself
We often compile a list of New Year's resolutions in order to change ourselves. This could be waking up early in the morning and doing regular yoga and meditation, keeping your daily diary or daily blog etc.
Think about the last thing that made forget to eat
Think about the last thing that made you skip your favorite breakfast or lunch and you totally engrossed yourself in doing that thing. Remember it, and then go after it, of pick apart the core ideas of what made it so special for you and see if you can find them in a different activity.
